Toyota Motor Corp. expects that U.S. sales in 2008 will grow by about roughly 3 percent, which means a steady pace for the leader in gasoline-electric hybrid production. Toyota’s annual domestic sales growth in the US has slowed recently as its fleet mix matured. It had a nearly 10 percent range in 2004 to 2006.
Toyota still plans to offer products in 98 percent of the light vehicle market. This includes passenger cars, SUV’s, and pickups. It also expects to sell more than 250,000 hybrids (which include Prius models) in the United States, which is almost 11 percent of total U.S. vehicle sales. It also has 16 new or refreshed products for 2008 which will remain a secret until its official announcement in the auto show in Detroit in January 2008. The only thing that Toyota will not be delving into is full-size vans.
The sales growth of the company in 2007 was up by 3.6 percent.
