News has it that Toyota will be replacing its Solara sports car with the Venza crossover sedan, which will be built together with the Camry. About 7,000 employees of the Detroit plant have been assigned to examine the two latter cars (with the help of Digital Assembly, a computer software package) and to match the processes for a more efficient work process.

Here are only some of the things that can be expected from the changes:

Solera workers will be integrated into the optional panoramic roof line of the Venza, which will also be installed by workers who did the Camry’s moonroof.

Venza grille installation will be done by the people who work on the power steering of the Camry. Venza has electronic power-steering.

Workers will install antenna on the Venza while they will have to install speakers on the Camry.

A little confusing for now but Im sure the guys will get the hang of it eventually. After all, assembly line systems are made to be simple and efficient for maximum production at the shortest time.
