Summer’s Here – Car Care Reminders

undercoatSummer’s here and winter’s gone, have you had the underside of the car washed? This is something most people forget for during winter, road crews often spray roads cleared of snow with salty water and grit to prevent accidents. That same salt and grit that keeps you from sliding off the road can cause problems down the line if they are allowed to remain on the underside of your vehicle. Salt is very corrosive to metal for it creates a chemical reaction that hastens corrosion of the underbelly of your car. Regular check-ups and washes of the undercarriage is needed to prevent buildup of the salt and sand which can accumulate under and in between the many nooks and crannies of our vehicles adding weight and hiding rust. Better yet, have the vehicle washed and a new layer of undercoat applied.
This way, you get out the dirt, salt and grime from the underside, slap on a new rubberized coat of paint (undercoat) to help protect it and readying it for next years cold weather. You may also notice the ride getting quieter for the undercoat helps dampen sounds coming from the undercarriage silencing loose parts and getting you a more peaceful ride.

TOYOTA VS. HONDA

The 2 most important Japanese car producers today are Toyota and Honda. Both cars are well made and have there own technological enhances. They also show the way the race for the most fuel well-organized cars. If you’re looking for the most fuel efficient car, the Toyota Prius has an edge over the Honda Civic. But if you’re looking for toughness, I would say that Honda cars are more durable. They will give you 5-10 trouble free years provided you obey with the manufacturers scheduled preservation checks. I’m not saying that Toyota cars are not durable, its just that Honda cars are made of sturdier stuff. On the down side, Honda’s design is redundant and parts are expensive. Toyota’s simpler figures make it easier and cheaper to maintain than Honda’s. This allows Toyota cars to be in top shape far longer than their competitors. Verdict: buy a Honda. If it reaches 10 years you actually have to get a new car anyhow.
